Additional ORE Support Areas
The Office of Research Ethics (ORE) supports ethical research practice at Iowa State University through the Conflicts of Interest in Research, Export Controls, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and Research Integrity programs.
Conflicts of Interest and Commitment – ORE assists investigators by answering questions regarding COIC policies and procedures, reviewing annual conflict of interest and commitment disclosures, and facilitating the conflict of interest management plan process.
Export Controls – ORE assists investigators by reviewing projects and activities for export control issues, responding to questions, and implementing plans to manage export-controlled items or technologies.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems – Anyone utilizing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for research purposes must receive prior approval from the Office of Research Ethics regardless of where the UAS operations occur. Please complete the Unmanned Aircraft Research Project Approval Form before operating UAS for research purposes.
Research Integrity – Iowa State University prohibits research misconduct and encourages all members of the university community to report observed, suspected, or apparent research misconduct. Research misconduct means fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research or in reporting research results.
Undue Foreign Influence – Federal funding agencies are issuing new policies, guidance, and rules to address concerns relating to the unreported disclosures of support from foreign organizations, unlawful transfer of intellectual property or research materials, and agreements imposing obligations on researchers contrary to policy or law.
